Each card shows a Korean word from your vocabulary deck. Read it aloud before tapping. Immediate, fluent reading — no syllable-by-syllable sounding out. If you hesitate, that word goes back into drilling rotation.

💡 The fluency test By Month 1's end, every syllable block you've encountered should read instantly — not decoded. If you still sound out ㅎ + ㅘ + ㅇ + ㅈ + ㅏ + ㅇ + ㅅ + ㅣ + ㄹ rather than just seeing 화장실, spend 15 minutes with Lessons 1–4 tonight. Fluent reading is the foundation that every future lesson builds on.

Month 1 Complete — 한 달 완료!

Hangul mastered. Pronunciation rules internalised. 110+ words active. Both number systems operational. Calendar vocabulary in place. Two grammar patterns — 이에요/예요 and 있어요/없어요 — working. You can read, speak, and build sentences in Korean. Month 2 starts now.

L022 Describing People 사람 묘사 · 15 words
L023 Jobs & Occupations 직업 · 15 words
L024 Telling the Time 시간 말하기 · 15 words
L029 Present Tense −아/어요 현재형 · first full tense

🌏 Cultural Note

한 달 — One Month of Korean

한 달 (one month) — 한 from the Native Korean number system, 달 the native word for month. The compound is natural and warm in a way the Sino-Korean 일 개월 isn't. This is a small example of something you'll encounter throughout Korean: two parallel systems for describing the same reality, each carrying its own texture. 한 달 feels personal. 일 개월 feels official.

One month of daily Korean study is genuinely significant. Research on language acquisition consistently shows that the first month is the hardest — the system is entirely foreign, every rule is new, and progress feels slow because you can't yet see how the pieces connect. By now the pieces are connecting. You have Hangul as a stable foundation, enough vocabulary to navigate basic social situations, and two grammar patterns that will appear in virtually every Korean sentence you encounter in Month 2. 잘 했어요 — well done.

📚 Lesson 20 Homework — Before Month 2

Consolidating Month 1 tonight

1

Full deck review — go through every flashcard from Lessons 11–19. Don't skip the ones you think you know. The goal is 100% recall with no hesitation. Cards you pause on get a second pass immediately after.

2

Write the full self-introduction from memory — six lines, your real details, correct particles and copulas, no notes. Then record yourself saying it aloud. Hearing your own Korean back is the best self-assessment there is.

3

Write today's date + day + time in Korean right now: 오늘은 [월]월 [일]일 [요일]요일이에요. 지금은 [시] 시 [분] 분이에요. This sentence uses L14, L16, L17, L18 all at once. If any part breaks down, note which lesson to revisit.

4

Identify your two weakest areas from Month 1 — be specific. Is it the 안녕히 가/계 distinction? Native number short forms? The difference between 이에요 and 있어요? Write them down and do one focused 15-minute session on each before starting Lesson 21.

5

Month 2 mindset: You're arriving with a working reading system and two grammar patterns. Month 2 introduces the present, past, and future tenses — once those are in place, you'll be able to tell stories in Korean. Every vocabulary lesson in Month 2 feeds directly into those tenses. 화이팅! 다음 달도 열심히 해요!
